“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

March 2 has been declared National Reading Day.  March 2 is also one of the worlds famous authors birthday, Dr. Seuss. He was born on March 2, 1904.  Theodore Seuss Geisel more famous for the name Dr. Seuss is famous for his well known children's books.  Perhaps the 20th century's most famous author for children, Dr. Seuss wrote and illustrated quirky children book's throughout his lifetime.  He published 46 children's books, which were often characterized by imaginative characters, rhyme, and frequency words.  He was an american cartoonist.  At a very young age, Theodore liked to draw and write.  Dr. Seuss first book was titled, And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street.  He was inspired while on a trip to Europe to write this book because the rhythm of the ships engine gave him a feeling for poetry.  Dr.Seuss wrote many children books and some of his books even turned into movies such as The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  Among his most famous books is The Cat and the Hat, a story about two children who find themselves home alone with a roguish, hat-wearing feline. With only 223 vocabulary words and much repetition, it was ideally suited for beginning readers. He made children's books more interesting and more fanciful.  His use of nonsense words, catchy rhymes and very strange illustrations made his books extremely interesting to children. He is famous and remembered because of the very distinctive nature of his books.  They are not like any other author's children's books.  His books also offer lessons for children that are all subliminally placed within the text.  Using his fun style of writing he has addressed everything from not allowing strangers into the house ("The Cat in The Hat") to protecting the environment.  His works are enjoyed by children and adults. He died at the age of 87 but his legacy continues to live on.  Dr. Seuss continues to make a difference in children's lives.
